Le Corbusier began using engravings as his medium after WWII. He was called on to submit for the art magazine Cahiers d'art, which introduced many famous artists of the time. Le Corbusier must have been extremely proud to be brought to the same arena as the likes of Matisse and Leger. His submission was Le Poeme de l'Angle droit, the poetry and the drawing were both of Le Corbusier himself.
With his Le Poeme de l'Angle droit as an initiative, Le Corbusier also submitted number of other works, often in series and portfolio format as well as singular pieces.
He was known to repeat his favorite themes. At times he would repeat similar themes for years, revealing his particular interests in the corresponding time periods in his career.
His other engravings collections include; Entre-deux, Serie PANURGE, La mer est toujours presante, Cortege…, Petite Confidences and Unite, all of which portray his favorite subjects and repetitive motifs in simplified forms.
Le Corbusier designed the posters for a number of his own exhibitions. He emphasized on eye-catchy and memorable designs using simple and dynamic geometry and colors.
