Furniture

Le Corbusier's furniture designs go back to his Swiss days. He designed closets and chairs for his early buildings such as Villa Fallet and Villa Jeanneret-Perret. These traditional wood works show generational contrast to his works in the later years.

One of his favorite works was Gebruder Thonet's bent rattan chair (No.209). He preferred to use this in his own home for its lightness and simplicity.

In 1927, Charlotte Perriand joined his office as an interior designer. Together with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret, the three of them designed number of LC series furniture that are still in production today.

Among them, Sling Chair (LC1) with its adjustable back rest, stable and thick cushioned Grand Comfort sofa (LC2), and lounge chair that conforms to human contour Chaise Longue (LC4) are very commonly seen today.
